Privacy Policy
for the game "Grumpy Scampi" (Android app and browser version). Last updated: 13 October 2026
1. Controller
The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Grinity e.U. (registered sole proprietorship, company register no. FN 609103s), owner Patrick Limper
Brucknerstraße 7, 4690 Schwanenstadt, Austria
Email: contact@grinity.eu
2. In short
Grumpy Scampi contains no advertising, no analytics or tracking services, and needs no account. Your game progress stays on your device. Only if you choose to use the online leaderboard are a nickname you pick and your records stored on a server (see section 5).
3. Game progress
Your game progress (for example coins, pearls, stars, records, settings such as language, sound and one-handed mode, purchased skins and accessories) is stored only locally on your device in the app storage (localStorage). We have no access to it. This data never leaves your device.
4. Deleting your game progress
You can delete the locally stored progress at any time: in the Android settings under Apps → Grumpy Scampi → Storage → "Clear data", by uninstalling the app, or in the browser by clearing the site data. Your progress cannot be restored afterwards. Leaderboard data on the server is deleted with the button in the game (see section 5).
5. Online leaderboard (optional)
The game offers an online leaderboard with the best heights in each world's endless mode (all time and the current week) and a friends leaderboard. Using it is optional. The game connects to the server only when you open the leaderboard; without a nickname, no results are sent.
What data: a random, anonymous player ID (no name, email or phone number), the nickname you choose, your friend code, the codes of friends you add, your best results per world and week with their time, and the time of your last submission. When connecting, the server technically processes your IP address (for the connection and to prevent abuse); it is not linked to the leaderboard.
Publicly visible: all players can see nicknames and best results in the leaderboard. Please do not use your real name as a nickname.
Purpose and legal basis: providing the leaderboard you requested (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR); processing the IP address for the security of the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in secure operation).
Service provider: the leaderboard runs on Supabase, Inc. (USA) as a processor; the servers are located in Frankfurt am Main (EU). A data processing agreement is in place with Supabase. Access from the USA cannot be entirely ruled out; it is safeguarded by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Retention and deletion: the data is kept until you delete it. In the game under Leaderboard → Profile → "Delete my leaderboard data" you immediately and permanently remove your nickname, results, friendships and the anonymous ID. Alternatively, just email us (see section 11).
6. Internet connection
No internet connection is needed to play. All content is included in the game. A connection is made only for the online leaderboard (section 5).
7. No sharing, no ads, no trackers
We do not sell or share data with third parties (except the leaderboard service provider, section 5). The app includes no ad networks, analytics tools, trackers or third-party software that collects data. The app does not request special permissions (such as location, contacts, camera or microphone).
8. Children
The game is intended for players aged 13 and over. There are no chats and no way to send messages to other players. The leaderboard shows only nicknames and heights; nicknames are checked for inappropriate words.
9. Your rights under the GDPR
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority; in Austria this is the Datenschutzbehörde (Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at). You can change (nickname) and delete your leaderboard data yourself in the game; for anything else, write to us. You delete your local progress yourself (section 4).
10. Changes
If new features that process data are added (for example real in-app purchases), we will update this policy beforehand. The current version is always available on this page.
